The Deutsche Guggenheim and Imi Knoebel donate 25,000 euros to Kinderstern e.V.

Already since 1989, Imi Knoebel has been supporting this non-profit association which offers help to children in need. Upon the wish of the artist, the entire proceeds of the wall object An Meine Grüne Seite as well as the print drunter und drüber will be donated to Kinderstern e.V. The editions for his Berlin double exhibition IMI KNOEBEL: ICH NICHT New Works and ENDUROS Deutsche Bank Collection at the Deutsche Guggenheim also reflect this20commitment.

Moreover, children were able to paint paper versions of the Kinderstern (children’s star) designed by Imi Knoebel and buy them in return for a donation. This initiative was met with great response by the audience. In total, the commitment of the Deutsche Guggenheim and Imi Knoebel generated proceeds of 25,000 euros, which will be donated to the association at the end of August.

Kinderstern e.V. mainly supports initiatives dedicated, for example, to orphans infected with HIV in Thailand or children affected by the Chernobyl disaster in the Ukraine. The donation will benefit a home for refugees in Düsselforf-Rath, which Kinderstern e.V. has been supporting since 2007. The facility looks after refugee children from Chechnya and Azerbaijan in their free time.
